Today I am grateful for the first day of Summer!

365 Days of Wonderful – Day 172

Today I am grateful for the first day of Summer! Happy Summer Solstice! It is interesting to think about the passage of time, the rotation of the planet, and the shift of our seasons. Cultures across the globe have erected monuments as giant sun dials, to identify and celebrate the movement of the sun. Summer Solstice marks the longest day of the year, and the passage into Summer. For some cultures this is the start of the new year.

Most days I don’t think much about the passage of time. I may wonder which day of the week it is, or make a mental calculation of how close I am to the weekend. Occasionally I flip a calendar page… often my brain struggles to calculate the date as I make notations in client files. I am grateful for the automation of my watch, and clocks, and electronic devices that help me navigate this march through the time of my life.

Most days I quiz my clients about their pending travel plans, or listen with glee to the adventures they have returned from. I love travel. I strive to take classes in far away places and visit friends that vagabond around the planet. I think it is SO good to see other cultures and experience other places. The world gets smaller when we navigate the differences of the terrain of language, place, culture, climate, and food.

I have been blessed with many adventures, and a strong sense of personal safety. The soles of my feet are itching as I write this… to perpetuate the myth that travel is coming my way! LOL. Some day I hope to lead eco-retreats—so we can all travel together and kumbay-ya about gratitude in some magical place. Let’s hold the vision on that!

Today I am grateful the the lovely weather. I am grateful that most days I am in sandals and capris. I am grateful to be eating fresh strawberries from my yard. I am grateful to see beautiful sunsets over the olympics. I am grateful to feel blessed. I am happy. I am looking forward to paddling, hiking, and laughing in the Summer Sun. I am grateful that I have some lovely summer plans to look forward to, and wish that your days are filled with all you desire.

Blessings. _____________ Individual Inquiry: What does Summer mean to you? Do you have any delicious plans? What are your rituals for the passage of time? What does Radical Commitment look like for you?
