Today I am grateful for Intentional Slowing, Naps and Home Remedies.

365 Days of Wonderful – Day 125

Today I am grateful for Intentional Slowing, Naps and Home Remedies. For the past week I have been feeling off kilter, tired, run down, and a bit foggy. I thought it was allergies… today it became a sore throat.  🙁 Wa. Woh.

I am celebrating slowing down. I walked with a friend, had breakfast, trimmed the dog, and took a nap. I did laundry, did coursework, made cookies, and took another nap. I went grocery shopping, had a coaching call, roasted brussel sprouts and sweet potatoes–did someone say “Feed a Cold?!” Honestly, it has been a productive day–even in the space of intentional slowing.

When I am nourishing myself to build my immune system, I like to drink Gypsy Cold Care, take vitamin C, drink ruby red grapefruit juice, and take extra naps. I am reminded that when I slow down, I actually make more space for my creative ideas. It is as if the slowing creates more white space (like in graphic design), only in this case the white space is in my life. This spaciousness (without feeling the pull of to-dos) frees up bandwidth in my brain–and makes room for more good stuff to percolate.

Some times our lives slow us down–in the case of a sore throat or cold, an injury, chronic condition, or a disease… And we have no choice except to listen to our bodies wisdom, retreat and rejuvenate. Our bodies are amazing organisms, I am grateful that we have an amazing propensity to heal.

It is important to nourish our bodies with quality sleep, quality nutrients and whole foods, quality air, water, and a happy healthy environment. Nurture your spirit with things you love, and with people who support you and encourage you. Spend time in places that you vibrate to, and do things that fill your cup.

The study of Epigenetics says that we have the ability to switch our gene expression on and off–we are not solely doomed to live out our DNA. We can change our body’s internal environment and make it a healthy environment – one that supports and bolsters immune function, and is not a welcoming environment for auto immune and cancer expression.

So Slow Down when you need to. Honor the messages of your body. Be grateful for the clear sign. Nap more often. Practice Intentional Slowing. Be Mindful. Bake, Rest, Dream, Clean… that’s my remedy!

Now is all there is–stay present, mindful, and full of gratitude. ___________________ 365 Days of Wonderful – a daily gratitude practice for re-framing life with a slant toward the positive. Thanks for tuning in!
