365 Days of Wonderful – Day 146

Today I am grateful for deliberate slowing down and making time for Self-Care. I am happy to report that I got back on my board!

Two weeks ago I gave a talk at a local assisted living care facility at the staff meeting, “Live Your Best Life–Making Time for Self-Care.” I touted slowing down as a strategy for creating more space in our days–for ourselves, and for what matters. It seems counter intuitive, since most of us feel that we do not have the time to take for ourselves… But I promise that by deliberately slowing, and mindfully choosing to be present to what is, that more space will magically appear.

It is basic Law of Attraction–we get what we focus on. When I focus on not having enough time–it is a self-fulfilling prophecy, and when I am mindfully and deliberately choosing to do less, that I am able to carve out time for me.

Since I know that I teach best what I most need to learn–I realize the magic in the message that I delivered during Nurses Week, Women’s Health Week, and Nursing Home Week… it was for me! I need to choose to be Making Time for Self-Care–yes, of course!

I am grateful to be unplugging more frequently, taking naps mid-day, sleeping in late, and looking at ways to decrease the number of things on my plate. I am practicing healthy no’s, and saying YES to me, and doing things that fill my cup… like paddling into the sunset.

Tonight I made the time to pull my paddle board out of the bag, inflate it, launch it, and spend an hour on the water this evening–YAY. I put me first. And then you know what happened… I had the energy to get back to my blog!

Do something you love. Make time for self-care. Honor your relationship with yourself, and slow down enough to notice that you need to make You a priority.
